List your plans here about what you will teach with your students this week using a web 2.0 tool.
Please put your grade level and planned activity.
(* If you are hoping to use something other than a glog for the 1st week, state that here also.)

You are all creating some WONDERFUL plans! Go teachers!

Amanda Cain-Okay...now that I am looking at it I think I am getting confused with a blog and a wiki....which ones are the ones that the teachers made that we explored in class that they had as their "webpage?"--

BLOGS

Amanda Cain- The very next day I showed my first graders what I learned in our class! Obviously, there will need to be a lot of teaching involved at first in order for them to get the hang of it. I want them to just explore the glogs and have them create a simple one on "Fire Saftey" since that is something pretty easy and fun that they have learned a lot about. After that, I want to have them create a glog more specific to the content and what we are learning in the class. I also have started to create a wiki for my class that I eventually want to put on my webpage. I have invited parents to join :) I want this to be a running log of what my students are learning in the classroom and I want parents to put their thoughts, feedback, etc. I have also begun adding video to my students finished published pieces on the flip camera and I would like to add this to my wiki. My students are excited to read their finished work and cannot wait until it is added to the wiki. I have also included pictures of student work on my wiki. Needless to say I am excited to create and collaberate with my students, parents, and other colleagues through the use of these tools! :)

WOW! I'm floored! And this is with 1st Graders? GO Amanda!

Cari Cain- Since I have no experience with glogs and I'm still learning and exploring what they are and what they can be utilized for, I think I am going to start small. I am going to have one of my book clubs create a glog on the book they're finishing. They will have to include specific information about the book in the glog and their book recommendation.
The glog will be assessed and presented to the class. I am excited to see how these turn out!

Small is fine-- Always good to start where you are comfortable and do it right-- Eric :)

Amanda Kelly - I'm going to use a blog with the River Bend Readers teacher book club. We're using kidblog.org as an online discussion for the books we read. I think I'm also going to introduce either a glog or a wiki with my Word Study Wednesdays study group.

Carey Smith - My plan is to use a wikie, glog, and/or blog to share strategies with parents/students. I would also like to incorporate these into my class website and use them as a collaborative tool with parents/students.

Courtney Hulcer--My kids are already blogging to discuss their book club books but I did add an additional post that asks the kids to summarize what they have read and then ask a thick question they currently have. This ties to our current reading unit. In addition, I am also having my kids make a Everyday Uses of Fractions, Decimals, and Percents Glog like my teammate below. One of my book clubs is also making a glog for their culminating project to showcase their understanding of the text. They had just read "My Teacher Fried My Brains" so the graphics they have used really add to the effectiveness of the project--they were so motivated to get started. I have made a wiki but have yet to introduce it to my students. My idea is to make it a study tool for the students for our Mixtures and Solutions science unit. My dream is that it will become a virtual study group and they will learn and share with each other.

Debbie Frick - I came in wanting to do something with my photos and student learning from our field trip that day. I plan on having the students create a Glog about what they learned and inserting some pics.

Kathy Dobbs - I am going to have the students create a glog showing their knowledge with effective writing strategies.

Julie Weis-- We are going to publish poetry using the glog. The kids will explore with the glog one day and then post 3 poems on a glog the next. We will then have a digital author's share. 4th grade

Kacie Kenefick- My plan is to have the students create a glog over the everyday uses of fractions, decimals, and percents. I think this is a great way to FINALLY integrate technology into math other than by playing a math game online.

Libby Bawden- I plan to have the students publish a piece of their writing on the/in the glog. Their piece is based off of the poem, "Where I'm From" by George Ella Lyons, (an idea I got from my teammates!). The students have already written their poems and I know they will love this extension! I am excited to see how they can further describe their roots using the glog as a medium!

We are finishing up our service unit in social studies. I thought it might be kind of fun to have the students make a glog based on what they learned about the various service organizations in our community. My hopes may be to even put some pictures of the posters they made advertising their specific service organization. I too am going to start small.
